5 Keys to Success to Become a Successful Advocate

Being a lawyer is, of course, a prestigious and difficult job. If you choose a career path to become an Advocate, you must have a calling and effort that matches your dedication and investment to continuously learn and deepen your legal knowledge.

To become an advocate, of course, you must take the Advocate Profession Special Education (PKPA). Make sure that the institution organizing the Advocate Profession Special Education works with a law school or law school that has been accredited by the Advocate Organization and has already received a B Accreditation from BAN-PT.

Just because you’ve passed the PKPA level, passed the bar exam, and completed a two-year internship in a lawyer’s office doesn’t mean your business is over. Here are 5 keys to success you need to know to become a credible advocate.

Struggle

Success does not appear without hard work. There is no successful advocate in Indonesia that can succeed without diligence and hard work. To become an attorney, you must not only be proficient in the law, but also proficient in marketing the legal services you provide.

Lots of exercises to solve problems and cases.

Being a law graduate doesn’t really prepare you for work. When entering the world of work, a bachelor of law still needs to be guided from the start. Typically, law graduates undergo an apprenticeship or other acclimatization period that varies in duration from three, six months to one year. According to the stories of some famous law firms, this happens because law graduates only master the theory, but do not know how to apply the theory to solve cases.

Write, write and write

Being an advocate is essential not only to deal with incidents and find solutions to problems, but also to acquire the skills to write reports systematically. Remember that the case you are dealing with may be about the fate of one person or it may be about the fate of a corporation supporting thousands of people. Therefore, you must master how to write clear, accurate and structured reports.

English is required

To be a credible advocate, you should at least master a foreign language like English. However, it is not conversational English that you need to master, but formal English, both spoken and written, especially questions related to legal matters. Poor English makes it difficult to convey your ideas, especially in front of foreign customers who may be interested in using your services.

Apprentice!

An internship is actually required by the Advocacy Act so that you can be appointed as an Advocate. But you also have to take your apprentice seriously. This internship period should never be underestimated as it will determine your success in your career as an advocate. Use apprenticeship as time to learn something practical in nature. To be better trained to apply theory to concrete legal cases!
